January 2015 – Moving to a new Saturday night time slot, the Technical Excellence and Creativity (TEC) Awards celebrated their 30th annual event. The evening was hosted by comedian and musician Sinbad who kept a fast pace on the evening to make sure everyone got their fair time for both live performances and the thank you speeches from the award winners. In addition to the numerous categories of technical and creative awards, the NAMM committee recognized several individuals for special awards.

The NAMM/TEC Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Hillel Resner and David Schwartz.

The TEC Hall of Fame Inductees were Grammy winning producer/Engineer Ed Cherney and veteran of over 2000 recordings and countless liver performances with the greatest performers in the world bassist Nathan East. Nathan was able to attend the event and performed with the band and his award presenter and friend Bob James and the TEC award house band.

The featured artist recognition for the evening was the Les Paul Award. On this the 100th anniversary of Les Paul, it was fitting that one of Les Paul's close friends and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame/Grammy award winner Slash was honored. In addition to the traditional acceptance speech, Slash treated the audience to several songs with his friends Orianthi, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, & Richie Sambora.
